The 2012 Hy-Vee Age Group Triathlon is the first qualifying event for the 2013 Hy-Vee 5150 US Championship. To race in the Age Group Elite division of the 2012 Hy-Vee Age Group Triathlon, you must furnish proof of completing an international distance event (1.5k swim, 40k bike, 10k run) with a time below 2:15 for men and below 2:30 for women within the last year.

Prizes
Every athlete who crosses the finish line in the Hy-Vee Triathlon will receive a finisher medal.
Placement medals are awarded as follows to each age category:
- 1st Place: Gold Medal
- 2nd Place: Silver Medal
- 3rd Place: Bronze Medal
