How do we top last year?
In 2007—after only one year and with the richest prize purse ever awarded—the Hy-Vee Triathlon has become the signature event on the elite triathlon circuit. The 2008 race will be even more exciting. With another extraordinary prize purse and significant Olympic qualifying points at stake, the world’s best athletes will once again flock to Iowa just weeks before the Beijing Olympic Games.
For American athletes, the 2008 Hy-Vee Triathlon will be an Olympic Team Selection Event. On the afternoon of June 22, the third and final member of Team USA will be selected at the conclusion of the men’s and women’s races. Expect to see a large field of very talented athletes compete for their dream to represent their country in the Olympics. Other international triathlon federations are expected to use our high-profile race to help select their Olympic team members as well, intensifying the competition even more. There is no doubt that world will be watching Des Moines next June.
