Important Hy-Vee Triathlon Pre-Race Guidelines

All age group Hy-Vee Triathlon participants (individuals and all team members) are required to attend a race briefing. Race briefings are held every half hour on Friday, June 11, from 12 noon to 6 p.m., and Saturday, June 12 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Briefings will be held at Valley Southwoods Freshman High School and take approximately 20 minutes.

Packet Pick-Up

Please be aware that all age group athletes MUST attend a race briefing before you can pick up your race packet. Race officials will not allow you to pick up your packet without attending the race briefing.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR TEAMS: Each member of the team must attend a mandatory race briefing and pick up his/her own race packet. You do not need to do this as a team. Each participant can attend a different race briefing if you desire.

Once you've completed the briefing, you are only allowed to pick up your own packet and must present a valid government-issued photo ID to do so. You will not be able to pick up your packet without a photo ID.

USAT members must bring a valid USAT card and photo I.D. to packet pick-up or pay $10.00 (cash or check) for the one-day USAT fee (no exceptions). If non-USAT members did not pay the USAT fee when they registered, they will need to pay the one-day fee at packet pick-up as well.

All minors must be accompanied to packet pick-up by a legal guardian as waivers need to be signed on behalf of the minor.

Packet pick-up is at Valley Southwoods Freshman High School on Friday, June 11, from 12:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. CDT and Saturday, June 12, from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. CDT. Each racer must pick up their own packet. The Triathlon Expo will also be held during this time.

There is no race morning packet pick-up.

TriTats

At the Hy-Vee Triathlon, TriTats is providing the TriTats race-day body marking system to simplify and professionalize body marking. You will body-mark yourself the day before or the morning of the event. Please show your support by wearing the TriTats logo tattoo below your age group identifier and your left bicep race number.  You will receive these TriTat race-day body marking triathlon specific temporary tattoos in your race packet.

The system is very easy, enjoyable, ads an element of safety and makes you look much more professional. Follow these easy steps:

  1. First place your race number TriTats on your left and right biceps and on the outside of your left leg and place your age group identifier tattoo on the back of your left calf.

  2. Then, select the location for TriTats logo tattoo below the age group identifier and one below race number on your left bicep.

  3. Important: skin should be clean & free of sunscreen, oils or makeup.

  4. Remove clear, protective top sheet from TriTat temporary tattoo.

  5. Press tattoo firmly onto clean, dry skin.

  6. Hold wet paper towel or washcloth to the back of tattoo, hold and make sure to wet it all the way through the paper. Wait 30 seconds (don’t hurry). Peel off paper backing.
