Large amounts of rain falling north of Des Moines caused local rivers to overflow their banks in Water Works Park causing us to lose access to 80% of the 40K bike course distance. Water levels along these roads are not expected to crest until 8:00pm Monday evening (Labor Day) leaving us very few options to keep a 40K bike course in the cards for Sunday morning ...

Hy-Vee, Inc. and City of Des Moines officials announced start time and course changes to this weekend’s scheduled Hy-Vee Triathlon competitions after heavy rains caused flooding on some designated city streets.
Hy-Vee and its event management firm, Premier Event Management, worked with Des Moines city officials Friday to evaluate flooding around Gray’s Lake Park, 2100 Fleur Drive, to determine what course changes were needed to ensure the safety of the Hy-Vee Triathlon’s nearly 2,000 registered participants.

Six of the top professionals in the Hy-Vee Triathlon’s Elite Cup races this weekend will appear as part of a panel discussion on Saturday afternoon at Hy-Vee Hall.
