Casper is from Springs Johannesburg (South-Africa). He graduated from Dr JJ High School and is now working in his family’s business. He got involved in triathlons by participating in the South African superbike championships. During this time one of his old race friends invited him to do a triathlon, and after doing well in his first one he started training harder and focusing more on it. It got to such a stage that he had to leave the motorbike racing and then started competing in tri competitively. This is going on to be his 4th year competing in triathlons.
Some other athletic experiences include racing for an ELITE cycle team, representing SA at world duathlon champs in France. With all of these accomplishments the most memorable experience was when he finished his first Ironman 70.3.
To prepare for a race Casper eats Jungle Oats and drinks coffee. His hardest time training is when he wants to pack and leave for a race, but still has one session to finish before he can go. The best part of training for him is when he has a nice cup of coffee on Friday mornings after a group ride. Casper’s best event, he reports, is the bike portion of the race.
Casper is hoping if he has a good swim, fast bike, and fast run he will hopefully earn a good result in the end. Casper says “Triathlon changed my life and way of living, coming from 104kg to 69kg and now doing what I’m doing and hopefully reach the ultimate goal was never even a thought 4years ago”
