She is a graduate from Wartburg College and loves triathlons! As well she loves spending time with family and friends, horseback riding, sports, boating, and snow skiing. She was an All-State basketball and volleyball player in high school before she went on to play basketball at Wartburg where they qualified for the NCAA tournament three out of her four years.
She got her start in triathlons when her sister convinced her to do a sprint triathlon when they were on a weekend trip to a winery.
She followed through even though she’s sure the wine talked her into it.
She is looking forward to the Hy-Vee Triathlon this year because of the great atmosphere it has. She loves the volunteers, spectators, course, and support she gets when racing. She will be racing in the 5150 Championships again and hopes to place within the top 5 this year.
Her most memorable race was doing the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Las Vegas in September of 2012. It was the hardest race she had ever done especially with the 105 degree temperatures. She finished in the top half of her age group in the world and it was only her second 70.3 ever.
Her pre-race meal consists of spaghetti with chicken and veggies the night before and having oatmeal with peanut butter the morning of the race.
Her favorite time to train is whenever it works for her and her family which can be at any hour of the day.
