Ken is from Mitchell, South Dakota and got started in the triathlon world on a dare by his friends.
He has a hobby of horseback riding and loves the climatic challenges South Dakota brings to his training.
Ken competed in the Hy-Vee Triathlon in 2012 and would have been happy just to finish the race but to place 3rd and be able to come back this year was great. He hopes to finish this year’s race with a smile on his face.
He got his triathlon start by taking a dare given to him by his friends. He has since then competed in triathlons and enjoys running most of all.
His most memorable race was when he had to make up two minutes in a 5K to win a national qualifier. He has also biked with Mike Pig and Kenny Souza at the World Championship in Las Vegas.
Spaghetti with peanut butter bread is a must pre-race meal for Ken.
Training in the winter time in South Dakota can be tough. His favorite weather to train in is hot and humid.
