She grew up in Palm Harbor and went to college at the University of Southern Florida for her undergrad. She went to the University of Tampa for graduate school. In her free time she likes to travel, sleep, eat, and read.
She got involved in triathlons when one of her friends that went to her gym got her to try spin classes. After she started the spin classes her friend started to talk to her about doing triathlons. She started reading up about triathlons and decided that if she would run for 30 minutes and do an hour spin class then she could do a triathlon…a sprint one. When she started training she fell off her bike the first time and was so embarrassed she wanted to go home but she didn’t. She forced herself up and did 20 miles on the bike that day. After her first race not going to well and swallowing a bunch of water she decided that she could do better at the next race.
This year will be her first time participating in the Hy-Vee Triathlon and she hopes for good race conditions as well as an easy stomach so she doesn’t cash in on all of her training.
Her favorite post-race memory is from last year when she finished the Las Vegas Rock n’ Roll marathon and her fiancé proposed. Her second favorite memory is when she ran the Boston Marathon this year and was able to finish the race. She was about half a mile down the street when it all happened.
Her pre-race meal must is either thin crust pizza or sushi. She likes to train on the weekends during the winter. She can sleep in and when she decides to get up it is still cool enough to train. After a day at work she is too mentally drained to get any training in, so that is her least favorite time.
