Patrick is from Topeka and he graduated from the University of Kansas with degrees in Engineering and Law. This is his 3rd year in the triathlon scene, although he has been involved with swimming and running most of his life.
Patrick’s most memorable finish was when he completed the 70.3 Ironman last year. It was 95 degrees with 30 mph winds on race day, this made all parts of the triathlon difficult. Seeing his family cheering him on was what got him through the race. When he saw them at the end of the race going crazy it pushed him across the line and gave him the greatest feeling of accomplishment.
Before each race Patrick eats Thai Chicken Pasta. His least favorite time to train is when winter is over and it jumps right to summer, the conversion to heat and humidity is always difficult for him. Last year was Patrick’s first Hy-Vee triathlon, and this year he would like to finish in the top 5 of his age group.
