Rebecca is from Frisco, Texas and started participating in triathlons after a friend asked her to train for one with them. She did not own a bike at the time, did not know how to swim, and had never run long distance. But she said "SURE!” and bought a bike that next week as well as doing her first sprint triathlon one month later.
Rebecca has a master’s degree as a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner. She is also a wife and mother of two boys ages six and nine. She has been participating in triathlons for three seasons now. Rebecca participated in a half Ironman nine months after her first tri, and her first full Ironman six months after that. Rebecca has qualified for Age Group Nationals every year as well. One of Rebecca’s most memorable moments in her triathlon career was finishing her first Ironman because she loved the feeling of accomplishment.
Rebecca says that the hardest time to train is in the 100+ degree Texas heat every day in August. Her favorite time to train is in the spring, during the start of a new season. From all her training she says the bike portion of the race is her strong suit. Rebecca is looking forward to all the talent that is going to be participating at the Hy-Vee Triathlon. Her goal is to finish in the mid pack of the race.
